Mike Dudley has been teaching and coaching at Blue Valley North since the fall of 2016. He will begin his fifth year as head coach of the baseball program in the spring of 2023 after serving as an assistant for two.
Prior to Blue Valley North, Coach Dudley spent five years as the pitching coach at Lawrence High School. During his time at LHS Coach Dudley helped the Chesty Lions to 55 wins and one state tournament appearance.
Before LHS, Coach Dudley spent four years coaching at the college level. One of those years was spent as the graduate assistant at the University of Kansas where he helped with infielders and offensive short game execution. That Jayhawk squad went onto win the 2006 Big 12 Tournament and advanced to the Corvallis Oregon Regional. After KU, Coach Dudley spent a summer coaching in the New York Collegiate Baseball League with the Amsterdam Mohawks where he had the opportunity to work with players from LSU, Kentucky, Stanford and Ivy League institutions among others. He coached third base and ran the offense during the regular season and managed the team during their playoff run at the end of the summer.
After New York Coach Dudley came full circle and spent three years as the hitting and infield coach at Garden City Community College (NJCAA D1) in Garden City, KS. The Broncbusters reeled off thee straight 40 win seasons while he was there, compiling an overall record of 126-57. They won one Jayhawk West Title (2009), made two Region VI Final Fours (2009 & 2011) and won two Sub-Regional Championships. He helped recruit and develop two NJCAA All-Americans , two Rawlings Big Stick Award Winners and 18 All-Conference Selections. Thirty-two players moved onto four year institutions while Coach Dudley was at Garden City. Since 2011 he has served as an Associate Scout for the Atlanta Braves.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Dudley spent two years playing for the Jayhawks in the Big XII Conference after transferring from Garden City CC. In 2005 he earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. During the summers, he spent time playing in the Northwoods League and West Coast Collegiate Baseball League.
Dudley was a standout at Pueblo Central High School in Colorado. He helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back Final Four appearances while taking home consecutive South Central League MVP honors his junior and senior seasons. His senior year he was named the 2001 4A Player of the Year and held the lowest E.R.A in the state (0.63). He was also a member of the first Colorado Rockies Scout Team in the fall of 2000.
Dudley and his wife Abby have been married for thirteen years. She is an employee of the Blue Valley School District in the early childhood department. They have two beautiful children Lyla (9) and Luke (7).
